HYROX splits for sub 90, sub 80 and sub 60

Updated · Rivo

For a sub-90 HYROX®, the Open men who finished in 1:25:00 to 1:29:59 ran the eight 1 km runs in an average of 41:31 (5:11 per km, 8:21 per mile), spent 38:26 on the eight stations and 7:43 in the roxzone. Open women in the same bracket averaged 42:53 of running (5:22 per km, 8:38 per mile), 37:26 on the stations and 7:28 in the roxzone.

Those are the real splits of the 20,937 men and 12,135 women who finished in that five-minute bracket in the 2025/26 season, averaged, not targets worked backwards from a finish time. Below are the splits of every bracket from sub 60 to sub 2:00 for Open men and women and for Pro, how to pace a race from them, and where the time goes as finishes get slower.

HYROX splits for sub 90

A sub-90 finish is anything up to 1:29:59, so plan from the column just under 90 minutes: the athletes who made it with the least to spare. The column before it is a comfortable sub 90; the column after it, a near miss.

Making it and missing it are close everywhere. Open men in the 1:30 bracket ran 16 seconds per km slower than the 1:25 bracket, spent 17 seconds longer per station on average and 35 seconds longer in the roxzone. The widest single gap was the wall balls, 39 seconds. The women’s brackets differ the same way: 17 seconds per km, 16 seconds per station and 33 seconds on the wall balls. A sub 90 is rarely lost at one station; it goes a few seconds at a time, everywhere.

Each column below is again the bracket just under a round time. The 909 Open men who finished just under an hour, in 55:00–59:59, averaged 3:37 per km (5:49 per mile) and 25:12 on the stations. Sub-70 men ran 4:07 per km (6:38 per mile) and sub-80 men 4:39 (7:30 per mile).

How do you pace HYROX from these splits?

Treat a column as a budget for the three parts of the race, then spend it evenly.

  1. Take the column just under your goal, for your division and sex. Its three totals, runs, stations and roxzone, are the budget.
  2. Hold the middle runs level. In the sub-90 column for Open men, runs 3 to 7 averaged 5:14 per km (8:26 per mile). Run 2, straight after the SkiErg, came in quicker at 4:51.
  3. Plan a slower run 8. It follows the sandbag lunges, and in the sub-90 column it took 39 seconds longer than the middle runs. Expect it rather than banking time early to pay for it.
  4. Don’t judge run 1 against anyone else’s. The start and the finish are laid out differently at every venue, so run 1 and run 8 move by minutes from one course to the next. The running pace guide shows by how much.
  5. Count the roxzone. The sub-90 men spent 7:43 moving between runs and stations, 3.4 times as long as their farmers carry (2:16). It is on the clock like everything else.

Where does the time go as finishes get slower?

Through the middle of the field, every five minutes of finish time is built the same way, and it splits almost evenly between running and the stations. From the 1:10 bracket to the 1:50 bracket, forty minutes apart, each five minutes slower meant 2:09 more running for Open men (16 seconds per km), 2:13 more on the stations and 36 seconds more in the roxzone. For Open women it was 2:14 of running (17 seconds per km), 2:10 of stations and 32 seconds of roxzone.

The mix still drifts. Sub-60 Open men spent 49% of their race running and 8% in the roxzone; sub-2:00 men 46% and 10%. Two segments grow faster than the rest. Run 8 took 23 seconds longer than run 7 for the sub-60 men and 1:52 longer for the sub-2:00 men, and the wall balls went from 3:58 to 11:11. What each station adds to every five minutes is on the station times guide, and how to train each part is in how to train for HYROX.

Same finish, different splits: Pro and doubles

Two athletes can reach the same finish by different routes, and the divisions show it. Pro men who finished in 1:25:00–1:29:59 ran 4:54 per km (7:54 per mile), 17 seconds per km faster than Open men in the same bracket, and spent 2:39 longer on the stations. Pro loads are heavier: the men’s sled push is 202 kg (445 lb) against 152 kg (335 lb) in Open and the sled pull 153 kg (337 lb) against 103 kg (227 lb), sled included, and at the same finish the Pro sled push took 1:09 longer and the sled pull 1:34 longer.

Doubles teams go the other way. Both partners run every 1 km and the pair splits each station however they like, so a men’s team that finished in the same bracket spent 7:11 longer running than a single Open man and 8:14 less on the stations. Their splits are on the doubles guide.

Read a column as a budget, then spend it your way: a strong runner can afford slower sleds; a strong lifter has to find the time on the runs. If you have raced, set your own splits beside the column for your goal: the segments furthest over it are where your time is. Rivo’s free Number does that sum for you. From your published result, or from a 5 km time and your sled push and sled pull times, it predicts a finish with the range it could land in and names the station costing you the most, in seconds.

How these splits were made

  • Source: 702,095 public HYROX results from 98 venues in the 2025/26 season, read through pyrox-client, an independent open-source client, and loaded on 2 September 2026. Only results with all 16 splits and a finish between 40 and 300 minutes count.
  • Brackets are five minutes wide. The 1:25:00–1:29:59 bracket holds every finish from 1:25:00 up to, not including, 1:30:00, so it is the sub-90 bracket.
  • Averages, not medians, so the parts of each column add up to its average finish within a few seconds of rounding. Every column is a real group of finishers; nothing is modelled or projected.
  • Runs as timed. A run split is the time between the timing mats for that 1 km. Where a venue lays out its start or finish differently, run 1 and run 8 move with it; every bracket mixes all the season’s venues.
  • Small groups are left out. A bracket with fewer than 50 results shows no splits, and every table states how many results sit behind it. Doubles splits are team times.
  • Nothing here describes one athlete: only counts and averages of groups, never a name or a single result.
