HYROX Boston: times, course and pacing

Updated · Rivo

HYROX® Boston 2026 runs from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in the Seaport. At the 2025 race the median Open man finished in 1:28:55 and the median Open woman in 1:35:15, on an average course: for the athletes who also raced somewhere else, Boston came out within 0.1% of their times elsewhere, the fastest course in the US that season.

Every number on this page comes from the 6,902 results of HYROX Boston 2025 that carry all 16 splits, set against 702,095 results from 98 venues across the 2025/26 season. Below: the finish times for every division, Boston’s splits against every venue’s, what the course does to your time, how to pace it and what to do in race week.

When and where is HYROX Boston 2026?

HYROX Boston, billed as HWPO HYROX Boston, races from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October 2026 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, 415 Summer Street, in the Seaport District. Divisions start in waves across all four days. The event page lists each day’s start times and they can move, so check your wave in race week.

This is Boston’s second HYROX. The first ran from 26 to 28 September 2025 in the same building, and its results are the numbers below. The same hall is not the same course, though: the layout is built for each event, so treat the 2025 course effects as the best guide there is, not a forecast. If Boston is your first race, start with what HYROX is and how it works.

HYROX season 2025/26, Boston: 6,902 results with all 16 splits. Cells under 50 results are left blank (–).

The median is the middle finisher: half the field was faster. It is the fairer average, because a long tail of slow finishes pulls the mean up. Boston’s field sat in the middle of the season. The median Open man finished 1:03 slower than the median Open man across every venue (1:27:52), and the median Open woman 1:04 faster (1:36:19). Ranked by median, fastest first, Boston’s Open men were number 58 of 94 venues and its Open women number 49 of 93.

Doubles made up half the field: 3,415 of the 6,902 results were doubles teams. The median men’s team finished in 1:17:19, the median mixed team in 1:23:07 and the median women’s team in 1:28:02. In Pro the median man took 1:21:03 and the median woman 1:22:38; in Pro Doubles the median men’s team took 1:11:58 and the median women’s team 1:18:28.

What’s a good time at HYROX Boston?

Beating Boston’s median for your division puts you in the faster half of the field: under 1:28:55 for an Open man and 1:35:15 for an Open woman. The top quarter finished under 1:19:37 and 1:25:18. Half of the Open men finished between 1:19:37 and 1:41:38, and half of the Open women between 1:25:18 and 1:49:05. For the same levels by age group across every venue, see what a good HYROX time is.

Is HYROX Boston a fast course?

It is an average course, and the fastest in the US. Every venue draws a different field, so a venue’s median says as much about who raced as about the course. To measure the course itself, we compared athletes who raced Boston and at least one other venue in the 2025/26 season with their own times elsewhere: 1,290 Boston results, inside a comparison of 44,243 athletes who raced two venues or more. The same athletes finished within 0.1% of their times at an average venue, about 0:05 on a 90-minute finish. That ranked the course 51 of 93, fastest first; the whole ranking is in the fastest and slowest HYROX courses.

The calendar is already taken out. Boston was raced in September 2025, early in the 2025/26 season, and athletes get fitter as a season goes on, so an early course reads slow until that is removed; the course ranking removes it for every venue. The other US courses read slower: Chicago +0.3%, Miami +0.7%, New York +2.1% and Anaheim +4.5%.

The finish evened out, but the parts did not, and the data shows where the time went, not why. The loads were the same as everywhere: 152 kg (335 lb) for the Open men’s sled push and 102 kg (225 lb) for the women’s, sled included. What differs between venues is the floor, the layout and where the timing mats sit. For the same athletes, in Boston:

  • the eight runs were 2.9% slower and the eight stations 0.1% slower;
  • the roxzone, the transitions between runs and stations, was 12.7% faster;
  • of the three stations measured one by one, the sled push was 10.1% faster, the sled pull 2.2% slower and wall balls 7.0% slower.

Medians. Boston: HYROX season 2025/26; all venues: season 2025/26. A minus means faster here.

The first run is where Boston stands out. The median Open man took 5:52 for run 1, 1:20 longer than the season’s median, and the median Open woman 6:37, 1:23 longer. Runs 2 to 8 each landed within seconds of the season’s medians. Run 1 swings from venue to venue far more than the runs after it, because the start and the first timing mat are set up differently at every venue: it measures the course more than the athletes.

The stations match the course effects. Boston’s median sled push was 28 seconds faster than the season’s for Open men and 23 seconds faster for Open women. The sled pull was 16 and 21 seconds slower, and wall balls 41 and 14 seconds slower. The roxzone gave time back: 43 seconds faster for men and 68 for women.

How should you pace HYROX Boston?

Pace it like any HYROX race, and plan for what Boston’s course did in 2025. If you don’t have a target yet, Rivo’s free Number gives you one from your own numbers: a predicted finish from your 5 km time and your two sled times, the range it could land in, and the station costing you the most time.

  1. Allow for the course in your target. For the same athletes, a finish worth 1:30:00 on an average course came out at about 1:30:05 in Boston, so set your target as you would for any course; where the time moves inside the race is below.
  2. Let run 1 read slow. Expect the first split to come in well above your running pace: in 2025 it was more than a minute over the season’s median for both Open men and women, while the runs after it were normal. Run your planned pace and don’t chase the clock on run 2.
  3. Hold one pace from run 2 to run 7. The last run is where an uneven race gets paid for. Across every venue, Open men who finished in 75 to 80 minutes ran their last kilometre 48 seconds slower than run 2; men who finished in 95 to 100 minutes ran it 1:26 slower. For women finishing in 85 to 90 minutes the gap was 46 seconds, and for women at 105 to 110 minutes 1:21.
  4. Budget the stations for this floor. If your station targets come from another venue, expect the sled push to come quicker and the sled pull and wall balls to take longer. The 100 wall balls took Boston’s median Open man 7:52, against 7:11 across every venue, and they come last, when you have the least left.

What should you do in race week?

Race week is for arriving fresh, not for getting fitter: the work belongs in the weeks before, and how to train for HYROX covers them.

  • Cut volume by about 60% against a normal week, after about 40% the week before. Cut rounds and reps, not pace: keep your run paces and station loads, and keep 1 km repeats at 1 km.
  • No barbell in the last six days. Put the last hard session at least three days before your race, and keep the two days before it to a short, easy shakeout run.
  • Check your wave. Racing runs from Thursday to Sunday; confirm your division’s start time on the event page during race week, because the schedule can change.
  • Write your splits down with the Boston adjustments above, so race day is about running a plan, not making one.

How these numbers were made

  • Source: the 6,902 results of HYROX Boston 2025, and 702,095 results from 98 venues in the 2025/26 season for comparison, read through pyrox-client, an independent open-source client, and loaded on 2 September 2026. Only results with all 16 splits and a finish between 40 and 300 minutes count, the same rows Rivo ranks athletes against.
  • Medians and quartiles, not averages. Top 25% is the 25th percentile of finish time. Doubles times are team times. A group with fewer than 50 results shows no times, and Adaptive results are not published.
  • The course effect uses the Open and Pro singles who raced at two venues or more in the season: 44,243 athletes and 106,920 results. Each venue’s effect is what it did to their finish against their own finishes elsewhere, relative to an average venue. Championship and invitational races are left out. Athletes get fitter through a season, so the gap between the venues raced in each half of the season is taken out, assuming the courses in each half are no faster on average.
  • Nothing here describes one athlete. No names and no single result: only counts, medians and quartiles of groups.
